This is the kind of commercial that would make someone want a Pre. Show off what the Pre can do, highlight its features. Palm take note, the commercial below does nothing for the Pre, except want the girl in the commerical to get some kind of mental help.

Hopefully she's using the Pre's multitasking ability to look for a Psychiatrist, schedule an appointment, and research an antidepressant.

While it's always great to see Britney , Paris , and Lindsay photographed "forgetting" to wear panties (they're not necessarily known for their brains). Someone who is, is Google CEO, Eric Schmidt. He got caught taking pictures using a BlackBerry. As the Seinfeld saying goes, "not that there's anything wrong with that", but he could have used one of the many Android based smartphones that run the OS from the company he's CEO of. I'm just sayin'...

Officials at Apple [AAPL 137.37 -2.11 (-1.51%) ] have yet to respond to multiple phone calls and emails seeking guidance about Jobs and his whereabouts, but employees are doing what Apple PR isn't, and that's confirming that he's here at work." Via CNBC .
Apple's own press release for Apple Sells Over One Million iPhone 3GS Models confirmed Jobs is back on the job with a quote from Steve Jobs, something we haven't seen for a few months.
MacDailyNews reported earlier today:
"He's baaack: Apple CEO Steve Jobs has not been quoted in an Apple Inc. press release since January 21, 2009, one week after Apple issued a "Media Advisory" on January 14th announcing his medical leave of absence until the "end of June." It's typical Jobs style to "announce" his return with a simple quote in a press release."
As you can see from the video Apple has really made the iPhone 3GS noticeably faster than the iPhone 3G in terms of the iPhone OS. The 600mHZ processor and 256MB RAM seem to make the iPhone 3GS open apps instantly.

PreCentral has posted a picture of a statue that stands at the entrance of Palm's headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. Palm has updated the statue to now be holding a Palm Pre instead of a Treo 650.
A lucky PreCentral forum member had a great experience while buying his Pre. Jon Rubinstein, Executive Chairman of Palm (the guy who saved Palm by creating the Pre) showed up to the Sprint Store in the Castro District of San Francisco to check out how the Pre launch was going. Joshua Topolsky, Editor of Engadget, and Norm Meyrowitz of Macromedia also showed up at the launch.

As we've seen with every highly anticipated gadget, someone begins the line. The first person has started waiting on line outside of a Sprint store hoping to land a Palm Pre.

With the Pre launch only a few days away Palm is shipping Sprint Retail Stores shipments of Pres daily to try and meet demand on June 6th. As expected, Sprint Retail workers are beginning to take pictures of the Pre and post them online (even though Sprint has issued memos warning them doing so could cause termination). Via Engadget

PreCentral is reporting that Sprint Retail stores have begun to receive Palm Pre Advocate phones (1 Pre Advocate phone per store, a select employee of the store who is assigned the Pre and named the "Pre Advocate", aka Pre expert of the store). The above picture was taken by a "Pre Advocate" today.
In other Pre news, IntoMobile is reporting that Sprint Retail stores have begun receiving Palm Pre demo units. These demo units are under strict lock down and are not meant to be seen (but probably will).
In other Palm Pre news, still no official launch date has been announced.

As we get closer to a concrete release date for the Pre things are starting to fall into place. The ever popular blurry picture of the gadget (Pre) + a blurry picture of an application running on the unreleased gadget (youtube app) = fanboy euphoria (the feeling of knowing it won't be too much longer before you hold the blurry gadget in the picture). "I asked her how she likes the phone," a production assistant on the set of Salt told me. "She went on about it for about two minutes. She basically said she likes the software better than the iPhone, she likes the thumboard for texting (although the keys aren't big enough), and thinks the screen is beautiful but can be too easily scratched."

I heard him talking about trying to use a BlackBerry this past weekend on yesterday's show, but didn't like that it didn't have threaded messaging. One of the best features Palm ever added to Palm OS was the SMS threaded messaging, then everyone followed them (except BlackBerry I guess).
Howard Stern has been a Palm OS Treo user for years. A few years ago he had Nicole Richie on when she was promoting the Simple Life. At the time she was engaged to DJ AM and she was telling Howard Stern how much she loved her Treo.
" That guy eventually got on the line and asked Howard if he'd gotten the Treo 650 yet. Howard said he's working on it but he hasn't gotten it yet. Nicole has one and said that it's pretty cool. Howard said he's going crazy not having it."
If Jimmy Fallon can get Palm some positive press when he had the Pre on his show, Howard Stern can knock it out of the park if he likes it. I can already see Palm and Palm's Vice President of Public Relations Lynn Fox tweeting up a storm :)

I just read on PreCentral that later in the wrap up show Lynne Fox, head of Palm PR (former head of Apple PR) called into the show to give them some info on the Pre. She did say it would be out before June. You can listen to the audio here @ PreCentral .
Ya gotta give Palm's PR team some props. They're getting the Pre into some pretty good places of discussion. Jimmy Fallon had the Pre on his show this past Monday . The King of All Media, Howard Stern is talking about it on his show, and Palm's Lynne Fox stepped up to the plate and called into the show to discuss the Pre. I give Lynne Fox major props for calling into of all shows, the Howard Stern show to talk Pre. No wonder Palm brought her aboard.
I came across this video over @ PreCentral . Engadget's Editor, Joshua Topolsky was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night and brought the Palm Pre with him. Check out the video and PreCentral for more information about the Palm Pre.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon which premieres Monday night already has launched webisodes online.
Purcell said in an interview that his team has trying to get the Palm people on the show to show the Palm Pre. Fallon said in an interview, "I'm interested in tech, and I'm interested in gadgets. I want tech people to come on my show, whether it's Bill Gates or the guy who designed the new Palm Pre, to talk about new inventions."
When Jimmy Fallon was asked what will separate his show from other late night show choices, at press conference he answered, "We're younger, we're into, like, tech stuff, gadgets, phones, video games . We'll treat a video-game premiere like a movie premiere. I'm just going to be honest with what I do, what I enjoy." Via Wireless and Mobile News .

A picture is worth a thousand words, in this case "420" comes to mind in Britney Spears' "Womanizer" video...
John Hodgman ("I'm a PC" guy from Apple's "Get a Mac" ads) was spotted on the New York City subway using an iPhone.
On tonight's premier episode of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Steve Wozniak hacked Kathy's iPhone using AppSnap while on their way to the Producer Guild Awards.
"Late yesterday afternoon MacTalk received the above photo from a very reliable source who can not be named for obvious reasons (fear of assassination by the Apple Secret Police I presume). Word on the street is that resellers across the country have also received similar packages. As seen by the picture, it's contents are protected under NDA until Tuesday June 10 - does that date ring a bell to anyone? Our source strongly believes that the package contains the much coveted 3G iPhone. Why is there only one and why is it here early though? Our source believes that the iPhone contained within is for promotional purposes, ie. after it's official unveiling at WWDC next week." Via MacTalk .
How long do you think it would take you to open this box if you received it, and it was really from Apple?;)

Police were called to Britney Spears' mansion last night after she got into a heated argument with her "manager".Pictures were taken of an iPhone text conversation between Britney Spears' manager and her paparazzo boyfriend. I wonder if Apple thinks this is good product placement or bad? ;)
"Look y'all, I got me an iPhone. I can watch my latest video, watch my older videos, listen to my latest CD, listen to my old music, surf the interweb, text the paparazzi, and flick through photos of my kids, I can even pinch them to make them grow y'all! The company that makes this thing even put a phone in it, it's crazy y'all!!!"
Welcome to the iPhone world Britney Spears...
"Sounds funny right. But I am dead serious. He signed my iphone and we had friendly conversation about it. He told me that Steve Jobs got him one too. I wanted to tell that Al Gore is on apple's board of directors, he should be able to get prerelease version with 3g or smth, but he was already taken away by his escort...." Via Livejournal .
We here at Gadgets on the Go do not openly support any political candidates but feel as though we must say, 'Vote Ron Paul!'
Seriously, please do not take our advice. Vote for whom you think will do the best job.
Lindsay Lohan is still in rehab, but took a trip to the supermarket where she was photographed with her BFF, iPhone.
Below is a picture of Lohan with her iPhone as she left her last rehab stint. I'm not sure if this is good product placement for Apple, but it sure doesn't hurt.

Grey's Anatomy star Katharine Heigl has 2 good habits and one bad. She uses her iPhone while drinking Diet Coke and lighting up a cigarette. Hopefully developers will create a smoke quitting app for the iPhone and help her, and many others kick the bad habit:)
MacDailyNews is reporting that President Bush's Senior Advisor Karl Rove uses an iPhone. I'm not too sure that's a good photo op for the iPhone, but I'm not going to get political. Just goes to show you how simple the iPhone really is;)
Martha Stewart is on the cover of the August edition of Wired. In the magazine Martha shows you how to make a cake in the shape of a Wii. Martha Stewart's love of technology doesn't stop at making edible confections that resemble gadgets, she's actually a gadget freak. How do I know this you ask? Her daughter told me (kinda).
Alexis Stewart (Martha's hot daughter) has a very un-Martha like radio show called "Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer" with the equally hot Jennifer Hutt, on Sirius Satellite Radio Monday thru Friday, 5pm-7pm E.S.T. with rebroadcasts daily from 11pm-1am E.S.T . They talk about "whatever", it's a hilarious and addicting show. They also have a blog over @http://www.whateverradio.com .
Alexis told listeners last week that Martha was spending her 66th birthday attending Google Camp. Alexis also revealed that Martha Stewart has an iPhone, and uses both a Mac and PC. How's that for some geek cred?
Lindsay Lohan checked out of rehab and was seen with her new BFF iPhone. Lohan is usually seen carrying a BlackBerry, but like most of the country she got her hands on an iPhone this weekend. Checking out of rehab and getting an iPhone? She's off to a good start.

"Some lucky celebs came out in Hollywood last night to celebrate the launch (and probably grab some samples) of the new BlackBerry Curve." Via PopSugar .
It's great to be famous, have the money to buy expensive things, but be given them for free (to be seen with) so ordinary people will feel like Eva Longoria when they get their hands on a BlackBerry Curve. The BlackBerry is really catering to the celebs these days, the SideKick better watch its back and plan a party soon.

I was just watching TV and saw a new commercial from Sprint. In the commercial a man asks a woman if she's on Cingular, she replies "no Sprint". A commentator then appears behind them saying, "they are both at the starting gate." They both begin to download an email attachment. The woman is using a Sprint Blue Treo 755p, while the man is using a Cingular Nokia E61. The commentator explains, "the race is on between Cingular's Edge network and Sprint's mobile broadband network." The commentator finishes with, " crossing the finish line and Sprint is 5 times faster". The the Treo 755p pops up on the screen and you're told you can get the new Sprint Treo 755 for $279.99 @ sprint.com./business .
It's great to see Sprint advertising the Treo 755p and how much more powerful it is compared to other "smartphones" :)

Verizon Wireless aired a commercial specifically about the Treo 700p during "My name is Earl" on NBC. I had to use my Tivo to rewind it because I couldn't believe my eyes. The commercial shows a woman walking down the street sending an email with some kind of pie chart in it, checking her calendar, replying to a text, and checking the weather. Here's the dialogue:
"With the Treo 700p and the Verizon Wireless network behind you, work, family, and everything in between is right at your finger tips. The perfect device for the business of your life."
Better late than never I guess.

"The cellphone. TWO cellphones. Because the new Treo is such a whiz with its GPS, e-mail, video capability, correct time in Tokyo, etc., I fear something may go wrong with it, and so I keep the old dinosaur. Just in case. I therefore need to deprogram both. Between voice mail and text messaging, that's logging on to FOUR places just to get a message like "Why don't you respond to my fax?"
It's a pretty funny article coming from a non-techie's view point, check out the whole article for a good laugh. C'mon Cindy, a Treo with GPS?? She obviously doesn't know Palm;)
"CONGRATULATIONS," my friend Lisa said to me as my handbag began to ring, "you graduated from a cell to a PDA."
"A what?"
"A PDA."
"What's a PDA?"
"It's what you're now using."
"I'm using a Palm Treo."
"What's a Palm Treo?"
"A sort of phone, computer, e-mail, Blackberry, text-messaging kind of thing. It comes in different colors. This pretty orange one, same one I saw Zach Braff getting, was a gift."
""Let me educate you. It's what's called a PDA."
"What exactly is a PDA?"
"I don't know. I only know that's what it is." Googling PDA, Lisa determined it stands for Personal Digital Assistant - whateverthehell that is. I don't understand technologicalese. What I understand is I'm losing my mind. I want only to answer the phone when it rings."
"So the company dispatched a techie to teach me. Erin's first lesson was: "To deactivate an open application, like, say, if you've downloaded music from the Web to use as your ringtone, press Purge with the stylus."
"Do what with the what?
"And you have to install your old SIM card unless your numbers were directly on the hard drive. Where did you store your contacts?" My what?"
"Look, to bypass the telephone book and go into speed-dial mode, just click on the home page by hitting the 'house' button then highlight the star icon which automatically brings up your prefs." To read the whole article click here
If Cindy Adams can use a Treo anyone can:)
I'd like to give Mr. Aguleira some advice, upgrade to a Treo 700p and you'll be able to communicate much faster using Sprint and Verizon's EV-DO Network. It could get you that picture much faster than another paparazzi using a GSM EDGE phone;)

The Treo 700p has been getting a lot of airtime lately on primteime TV shows. The latest was on tonight's ABC's "Brothers and Sisters".
Palm's celebrity guests
"Lou Reed, one of the founders of the Velvet Underground and the author of a number of rock classics, recently suffered a personal loss: His Treo 600 got killed in a traffic accident.
"I can't believe this happened. I'm so bummed," Reed told Marcus Colombano, a marketing consultant who handles product placement for the Treo smart phone. "It fell in the snow and got run over by a truck." A new unit was sent off to him immediately.
Welcome to the world of influencer marketing. Colombano, who runs San Francisco-based Avantgarde, tries to build momentum for products by getting them in the hands of the right people. He conducts the Treo campaign for PalmOne, the hardware side of the former Palm, which acquired the Treo when it bought rival handheld maker Handspring in 2003.
For PalmOne and PalmSource--the software spinoff that is holding its developer conference in San Jose, Calif., this week--this personalized form of product placement appears to pay off. Actor Kevin Spacey gave the Palm companies a public-relations bump, for example, when he used his Treo 600 to conduct a remote television interview during the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
Avantgarde also landed a Treo 600 in the hands of Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz. Whether there is a connection or not, Starbucks is rolling out Treos to parts of its field force at the moment. Are people so shallow that they'll buy something, just because it seems sort of cool? A PalmOne spokesman said the company has always perceived value in this sort of effort.
In a lot of ways, influencer marketing resembles high school for bigwigs. Musician Peter Gabriel got a Treo when it first came out--a model 180--in early 2002, Colombano said. Reed saw it and called up for one. Later, Gabriel and Reed went to dinner with Laurie Anderson, who asked for one, after she saw them making phone calls.
Soon after, assistants for composer Philip Glass, jazz musician Branford Marsalis and Metallica requested, and received, Treo units for their bosses. Naturally, picking the right influencer isn't easy. Veteran comedian Shecky Green probably isn't high on Colombano's list of potential targets. The units don't randomly go out in the mail: Typically, the so-called target--or a representative--agrees to receive one.
Still, the list of targets is rather diverse. Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin has become a Treo user through the program, as have actor Evan Handler, Fiat auto designer Michael Robinson, Oxford professor and author Richard Dawkins, Nobel Prize winner Kary Mullins, and Andy Caldwell, a disk jockey. ("Caldwell's good for demonstrating it, because he travels a lot" and hence uses more of the communication bands, Colombano said.)
Celebrity ex-hacker Kevin Mitnick has joined the club, too. Colombano met Mitnick at a social occasion where Mitnick demonstrated to him--purely for entertainment purposes--how he could hack his cell phone to make it look like his wife was calling."
I know this article is now 3 years old, but it's still very relevant. I've been posting Treo sightings on GOTG over the past year, last week alone the Treo 700p was featured on 2 popular TV shows. Palm has done a great job of keeping the Treo in the hands of "important" people, isn't that the reason you use a Treo?
The Treo 700p made another appearance on FX's new series Dirt , starring Courtney Cox. This is the 2nd time this week I have seen the Treo 700p make an appearance on a TV show. Great product placement Palm!
About 30 minutes into the show the Treo 700p made its 2nd appearance on tonight's episode of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.
I want to thank all the readers that visit GOTG, you've helped us reach another major milestone. Gadgets on the Go is now ranked as one of the “100 Best Blogs for Gadget Lovers”.
