  One million downloads
Oslo, Norway - April 15, 2010

Apple said “Yes”, and iPhone users around the world said, “Yes, please”. Opera Mini was downloaded more than one million times in its first day of availability in each market. Opera Mini is currently the number one iPhone app in the 22 featured Apple App Stores on their site, as of 8 a.m. CET today.

According to Apple’s download count, Opera Mini has been added to 1,023,380 Apple devices. Opera Mini is the world’s most popular browser that brings the Web to nearly any mobile phone. Opera submitted its browser to Apple on March 23, following the unveiling of Opera on iPhone during the Mobile World Congress, CTIA and SXSW. Initial previews of the browser garnered rave reviews, indicating that Opera Mini delivers up to six times the speed, especially on congested networks, and significant Web-page compression to keep roaming and pay-per-MB costs at a minimum.

“Today iPhone users have a choice, and, as the numbers show, they are eager to explore new and faster ways to surf the Web on the iPhone - especially during heavy Web traffic,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “With any widely available and frequently downloaded Opera product, we are appreciative of all the feedback we are getting, as it helps us to continually improve our product and better meet the needs of our users.”

Apple approves Opera Mini for iPhone
It's very hard to believe (given Apple's track record) that Apple has approved Opera Mini for iPhone. They have!

Opera Mini App approved for the App Store

Oslo, Norway – April 13, 2010

Opera Mini on iPhone

Opera today announced its popular mobile browser, Opera Mini has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini will be available as a free download within 24 hours, depending on market.

Opera Mini, with more than 50 million users worldwide, enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.

"We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This app is another step toward Opera's goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places."

  Opera Mini 4 leaves beta
"Opera has released Opera Mini 4, the newest version of Opera's mobile browsing software. Opera Mini 4 offers a desktop overview mode, so users see the page exactly as it appears on their computers.

People can then use the Opera Zoom to fly into the page and access the select content. Or they can select Opera's Small Screen Rendering to eliminate horizontal scrolling.

Opera Mini 4 is a free download, over the air. Data charges will still apply.

Opera Mini brings the full Web, your favorite Web sites and services, to almost every mobile phone. Opera Mini also automatically reduces the size of the transferred pages, so Web sites load faster while reducing the cost of surfing.

This new version also supports Opera Link, a new platform for synchronising the user's preferences and information across any device that runs an Opera browser - or any browser that can access Opera's social network, My Opera. Opera Link instantly synchronises bookmarks and Opera Speed Dial so that the information goes wherever users go." Via Geekzone .
