I pre-ordered a black iPhone 3GS 32GB from the Apple Store and picked it up after work today. I was surprised that there were 2 lines when I got to the store around 5pm, one for pre-orders and one for customers who didn't pre-order. I gave my name to the Apple employee who was checking off names of people who pre-ordered, waited about 5 minutes in line, and was taken into the store. The Apple employee handling my purchase told me that they had sold out of 32GB black iPhone 3GS' at around 2pm, but anyone who pre-ordered an iPhone 3GS was put on hold in the back of the store. The activation process was quick and painless. The whole process from beginning to end took about 20 minutes (much better than waiting in line for 6 hours back in the day;) ) Stay tuned for some 1st impressions and thoughts on the iPhone 3GS.
