Seeing the jiggling icons, Home screen web-clippings, Google Maps Locate Me feature, etc. (semi-GPS functionality) made me bite the bullet and upgrade to 1.1.3
1.1.3 land was pretty nice, cool features, nice jiggly icons, but for the most part it didn't come close to the great applications I would find on the installer App daily. I missed being part of the iPhone "hacking" community. My 1.1.3 was just another iPhone only being used to the potential Apple deemed fit.
iPhone firmware 1.1.3 is much different from previous firmware upgrades. You can no longer just put your iPhone into recovery mode and select an older version of the firmware in order to get back to having a Jailbroken iPhone. Besides restoring your iPhone you also need to downgrade your Baseband in order to have an iPhone that can make telephone calls (with out doing this, you end up with an iPod touch).
I knew there had to be some way for me to get back to iPhone firmware 1.1.2, even though most people said it's impossible. Luckily a pesron by the name of "Sidetalker" has written up a step by step 1.1.3 Downgrading Tutorial over @ modmyifone . He's done an amazing job of making it a relativley easy task. Huge props to him. I am now back to firmware 1.1.2 after almost a week of using 1.1.3.
Sometimes life isn't always greener of the other side, or firmware in this case ;)
